So it looks like my local will be getting upgraded on the 1/1/15 to an RBI "Bullet" I've searched pretty hard but can't find anything about what a Bullet is?

I'm fairly sure it's a micro isam... so you will be able to get adsl or vdsl if you are close enough.

You're not going to get that timeframe changed. There are 100's of RBI cabinets being installed so that's when yours is scheduled.

The RBI Bullet cabinet gets its name from the door on one end - constructed similar to the Urban UFB cabinet and it can have fibre micro/ribonet ducting stubends built into it at the time of assembly for optional later use

Thanks to Coffebaron for the image - I couldnt find my file copy and im not driveing 60kms to go and take another today

Hey guys. Well to much excitement they have started digging next to our exchange! There is a new concrete plinth installed.
My question is what is install time like? 5-10 days till the bullet is active and then a few Biz days after that for the full speed profile to activate?

for an RBI upgrade, whats the difference between a Whisper cabinet being installed and a "bullet" cabinet?

Anything apart from the shape/size of it?

coffeebaron: 2-6 months

This.

no real way of knowing.

The RBI upgrade that has been going on here really goes to show how misleading it can be to an onlooker.. a cabinet appearing doesnt mean anything, they seem to work in bursts to get the big bits out of the way, then it drops back to a single (sometimes two) chorus guys working away.

Deoends on weither fibre is there ir not - we did one just recently moved them into the new bullet cabinet but took them nearly 6 weeks to get fibre out there (was about 20km worth of fibre run) then another 6 weeks to get ut commissioned

considering this along with what you have said, i would have expected to see a 'bullet' cabinet.

just the duplication/intergartion of the copper circuitry could take over a month / fibre instlled spliced in and tested /  power have to be installed and certified / equpment installed / programmed and tested  and bit more than 5-10 days sorry.

just a small question is what your are reffering to as an exchange just a small wooden hut? or something bigger?
