We are with Snap on UFB 100/50 in Porirua. Great service & the FritzBox 7390 is excellent. No issues. Connecting went smoothly & get great response from the twitter & customer service teams. It is the Chorus peeps you have to be wary of.

Went with the open term contract as well but in hindsight would have gone for a term plan for discount.

hio77: every isp has faults.

being that it was about 7 on a Friday night, not surprised it took a little while to put in a temporary fix till they could resolve everything and move connections back.

you lost your internet for a whole 30 mins, does your SLA say it should be less than that?

IMO given that it was such a large fault, they did very well.

I agree with you, mostly. I have no SLA that I'm aware of, it's best effort. I'm just making the point that failures in two weeks isn't awesome. It's not awful either, and they reacted well. If they posted an explanation of what the faults were, why they occurred, and future mitigations then I'd be more inclined to write them off. I just figure bigger ISPs have more money and can afford redundant systems.

hio77: ild go snap, their support is great and their network is top notch. could not recommend them more to you.

I agree they're good, but for example they had a major failure in Auckland on their UFB network last week, and last night I lost internet for 30 minutes for some reason that wasn't really explained but was common to many users. I still like them, but nop notch networks fail less than that.

Try a 72 hour SLA.

72 hours is probably typical for consumer services. Again, I'm not particularly bothered and they responded well, I'm just pointing it out.

Thanks for the help guys. I bit the bullet and went with Snap.

Now we will see how many weeks it takes to get connected
