cheers aredwood, both corded and cordless do ring once, it is happening now and it is 1 degree outside even at 9.30 ( lucky me), dsl stats are all good so I guess the cables may be too close and been interfered with. Anyway its happened since the home was built in the late 90's, so the riple control would seem highly likely.
