oh i just meant to ask that as clarification, that the firewall by default is on, and that the firewall :settings" page is for adding exceptions etc, is that correct?

really appreciate the help.

is that what it says in the manual?

"The NF4V has a firewall function which helps to keep you secure while allowing you to configure rules allowing certain types of data through."

for the average user they don't need to add firewall exceptions, its only when you start going into things like web/game servers exchange servers you need to start touching that sort of thing.

Thank you again smile, Im just not confident with it.

I honestly just didnt understand it. I didnt realise the firewall is always on and what exceptions were, Im a noob. I did read that page but I think I just didnt get the concepts of a firewall.

The reason im confused is the manual says, to use the firewall feature, clik add firewall button to create firewal'

Which made me think it isnt on by default, that you had to add a firewall. but i havnt added one yet the wan device info under firewall says "enabled'.
