I tried to change the SSID but the password wouldnt work. Should I change the password first then the SSID?

Any tips for improving VDSL?

I get about 40Mbps and 9.9Mbps and 28MS ping. Dont have a master filter installed though, just use a splitter/filter as we only have to telephone jacks and dont use any of them except for the modem.

That's actually a pretty good speed - what were you expecting? How close are you to your exchange/cabinet?

And yes, you can change the SSID (Wireless menu > Basic) and the password (Wireless menu > Security).

no i think thats pretty good too, happy as larry.

just tried to change the SSID and it locked me out as the routers original password wouldnt work on the new ssid which automatically changed in my devices connections. so had to reconfigure the router lol. there must be a way to do it.

Given your last thread suggesting your connection could be new, try not to turn off the modem or anything for the next week or so. Let DLM figure out the best profile (and therefore speed) for your line.

noob alert. whats DLM?

is it considered an unsafe practise to leave the SSID as the router name? what about the original router password, is it generally pretty safe?

The default SSID and password are factory generated and secure. There is no need (from a security perspective) to change these.

dont reboot your modem. just leave it to do its thing. DLM will settle on DLM-1 assuming your line is clean.

Ild get a master filter installed or atlest dedicated cat5/6 run from the demerk to a single jackpoint to squeeze what you can out.

Post your line stats?

if you dont know how to get your stats head into the modem
go device info > statistics > xdsl

should look something like this

i dont know how to turn it on honestly.
