I use TrustPower for my fibre and have no issues with the connection, speeds or pricing.
I moved to Trustpower from a local wireless provider and am much happier with the performance and have had far less downtime.

Global mode is purely a sales have, which you can do yourself as suggested above, and as I and many others have.
I don't use their phone service so can't compare tolls/packages, but if you make that many calls, buy a $5 add-on or use 2-talk or such service ?

You could be a lot worse off, and be stuck on a slow DLS connection ?

michaelmurfy: It isn't the worst thing out - Global Mode as you call it is really just a marketing statagy and no where as powerful than going for a service like dns4me.net or unotelly where you can use more services and also more devices (like Chromecasts for example).

Global mode works with Chromecast and sites are being added regularly.  Not sure where you are getting your facts from.

Anyway back to to your original broadcast OP.

If the info in the Chorus (or other LFCs) database isn't up to date or is missing details, you may get a false negative. Give us a call and we can at least confirm availability once we know what the address is, even if we have to do a bit more digging to find out. :)

Thanks Wendy. I did give you guys a call and initial checks looked good (but I've heard that before lol) so anyway the guy I spoke to was going to pass this onto the install team who are going to confirm with Chorus. I could get a call back by close of play today- fingers crossed!!!!

Just chiming in to say TrustPower are not that bad. They have a nz based call center, fast connections, and discount deals if you have other services with them.

They the primary reason that Tauranga is (one of) the most competitive broadband pricing areas in NZ.

Chromecast uses Google DNS instead of the providers DNS so unless if you were doing something to intercept all other DNS's traffic it won't work. Anyway, not a hard thing to do, moving on... I just remember it didn't work once.

That's not correct, Tauranga doesn't have more competitive (or better) pricing than any other NZ area.

According to Google, Trustpower are pants:

Aredwood: At least you don't live in Whanganui, As there are currently no ISPs that are connected to Chorus UFB there. Not intending to troll Whanganui.

Wanganui is a UFF area.

Available ISP's are listed here:

It might be a UFF area but I'm pretty sure there was a greenfields Chorus BoF build there which is probably what the reference is to.

Not sure if Spark has sorted out a handover but we have Chorus handovers in most places. But the BOFs can be interesting. Flick me an email "pl at spark.co.nz" if you want me to check.
