zyo:
Just to clarify VisionStream is just for the external wiring, I am sure internal wiring (ONT etc etc) are done by a separate team.

Nope generaly (for Chorus) your job will be handled by one of the three main service contractors - DownerNZ, Transfield or VisonStream  / They each have teams withing an area that do differnt aspects of the job  - If our Externals are being done by VisionStream then a differnt team from VS will do the internals

Thanks, I guess my point of contact of the internal wiring wouldn't be the same person  then.

Must be area-specific; the same guy did internal and external at my place (Whakatane).

zyo: For my ongoing UFB connection I have kept in touch with the sub-contractors (VisionStream) mainly and they kept me in the loop with all the emails which is great. I am sure if I contact my ISP (Slingshot) there would be a much much slower response (or even incorrect information). Either way I am happy with this approach.

I wish this was true for us, every point of the installation process, we were never informed on what would be happening until the day before like 4pm telling me they will do something tomorrow morning. It makes it even harder to inform my neighbours what is going on.

Also work only seems to happen after I chase up on my case, and refer to my previous posts regarding my confusions on whom I was suppose to contact.

Sometimes you just need to be there when the contractors show up and get hold of the contact details of who's in charge. That's what I did. After all it's my property they are fiddling with and I have every single right to be kept in the loop. Also if something doesn't go completely to satisfaction let chorus know and sometimes you will be surprised the contactor might be the one chasing you up to keep you happy.

Almost a month now from the external wiring being done... still waiting for installation :(

They haven't even replaced the pavement outside our property properly yet. Who should we contact about this? We called Visionstream several times, and they are still waiting for someone else to put in our request.... I just wish the whole process was a bit more streamlined... and I don't have to chance up 3 different companies and all their subcontractors...

:( so sad.

My external installation started last year and was only completed last week with reinstatement of the drive way. Yes that means my ROW had a big hole since last year, good thing I have a very good neighbor.

Chorus recently changed their process so internal wiring can not start until all external works been done, it's a pain  but that seems to be the way it is, nothing to be stressed about at least you have internet.
