That's a relief, at least it isn't just ME. Typically get 1200kb/s to New York and SF, CA.

International speeds are at a crawl and my spouse is complaining and telling me if this keeps up to switch providers contract or no contract.

Is this happening to anyone who isn't on their unlimited plan?

Well now I can't even download my gmail, it keeps timing out even on a max keep alive time for outlook. I got notified of a response to this thread by using web based because I couldn't download it! This really sucks. I'll give them a couple days since it's the holidays but my spouse is a very unhappy camper right now and I'm none to happy either.
Did this speed test and it stalled at 5kbps, then 6kbps then finally speeded up to finish.

Just got this email from the happy campers at Woosh:

Currently our network team is investigating an issue with potential slow speeds for international traffic for some Woosh customers.
We will need some more information to diagnose an issue with your Woosh connection.
1) Speed test via www.speedtest.net
Perform and record speed tests from Auckland to Sydney and Auckland to Los Angeles. Please conduct each speed test several times to accommodate for any variance.
2) Perform a trace route to several International sites (eg novell.com) and include it within the ticket Steps to compelte a trace route for Windows Xp Click Start Click Run Type "cmd" and press enter A black Command Prompt box will open Type "tracert novell.com".
TO COPY THE TRACE ROUTE TO YOUR CLIPBOARD TO BE PASTED INTO A SUPPORT TICKET:
Right click anywhere in the window and click Mark. Then, take your mouse to the uper left corner of the window, hold the left button on your mouse, drag all the way to the bottom right corner of the window, release your left mouse button, and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
3) Also if you can please log into your ADSL modem and find the Max Attainable and Current line speeds.

I have replied with the data & also directed them to this forum post in case they were interested. At least they now know (after 5 days of emails from me at least) & someone somewhere is interested.
Perhaps we can all send them this data?
Have a nice labour day!

5 am in the morning ..   unlimited account running at  32 KBytes  = 256kbps.  Almost appears as  if capped at 256k,  and a share of a  minimasl piece of bandwidth.   Rung today asked the question to be addressed to the manager, and a reply from him.   Shesssh if  you bought a Holden V8 and opened the bonnet  to find a lawn-mower !    not a happy camper !

I was hoping I'd come home tonight (Tuesday 6 pm here) and find this fixed. No such lucky. Anyone else had any improvement?

Hi mate,
I actually received a ref number by email so rang to followup. Spoke to a pleasant lady who was almost apologetic and acknowledged their had been many complaints - esp Monday. A dedicated team is working hard to resolve it - I am told. I asked if it was being deliberately done to force users off unlimited plans and she said no no no - it's a fault, many users are unhappy and it will be resolved.... fingers crossed!

Will be switching to XNET if not resolved by weekend....

Tuesday at 5:52pm getting....

macmerk: Orbit update. I called Woosh they blamed telecom. They suggested going to a fixed plan 10G@$49.95. as I only use aroung 10G. Asked what happened if I went over they said I would be charged $79.95.
Told them I would only pay for dialup asked out of contract and a refund. Signed up for broadband getting dialup. They said it would be cleared up in a week to call back then. Looks like little will be done and it was left that I will call them Friday. Not a happy camper but it looks like Xnet is having trouble also. I would suggest keep calling them and keep this thread up to date with any news. Best to us a

OK Dokey,

Just spoke to a technician who came out with .... "all our bandwidth has been used up for unlimited customers, other plans are fine".  I ask,  "your bandwidth or Telecom's?"  He replid "No, our bandwidth"

So how does this work?  Do Woosh buy bandwidth from Telecom and then Telecom cuts their speed if they hog too much??  If this is the case,  why would it take 10 days (and counting) to purchase additional bandwidth.... or are they waiting for end of month roll around????

And why no official communication to all affected customers as to the problem and eta for resolution?

think this technician is out of his depth.   To advertise a full speed  "fast as you can go"  service.  And them restrict it  to approx 20th or 30th of that speed, would be a good case for the commerce commission.

If he had said that to me,  I would ask to speak to the masnager.

If it is true, then indeed Woosh are answerable for some shoddy business practices.

 grrrr  at Woosh
