OK, thanks for that Fraktul.

Can you tell me then: Is Xnet Xtencity based on the Homeline product, or one of the others?

And is the VPN offering what ICONZ and Inspire Net originally offered i.e. the VLAN approach where there is no authentication needed from a router?

None of them require PPPoE really...its up to the ISP to deliver AAA (authentication, authorization, accounting). Most use PPPoE since its pretty simple and well supported in CPE.

Yes, but I dont want to comment on what WxC are using sorry. If Mav wants to disclose that then thats his prerogative.

Fraktul: Legacy 5.8GHz gear on Waitarua is being decomissioned - the additional coverage this offered over Waikumete and Albany Hill (covers a far way out west suprisngly) is/was marginal.

Compass is not signing up people on their old 5.8 system anymore. Only supporting existing customers now.

IMHO reliable use of ISM bands for point to multipoint transmission over urban centers in NZ is not longer viable and has not been for some time - this is especially true if you have cut the wire and are reliant on a wireless service for voice.
