Bigpipe or Flip or Unlimited Internet + a second hand modem and router - then just sell the modem and router once they've outlived their utility. Painless.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

The Spark HG630b is also VDSL capable. Cheaper than $100 on Trademe.

Ok, I don't get this.

You want vdsl modem but your new place is only adsl2 and Vodafone cable?

Edit: I see, Vodafone won't offer vdsl but other isp will...

Anyway I have unused hg630b, in Auckland - happy to lend if you cover postage.

Bigpipe is great. Their support has been awesome and they're even on geekzone to answer all your questions. Just had a reply at midnight from them, you won't get that from anyone else.

Today
Today I had VDSL2 turned on in the place I am renting temporarily. The line was split on the outside of the house and a dedicated pair has been selected. The current faceplate is 2x BT, the replacement was 1xRJ11 (Not acceptable).... so the advice was to put an ADSL2 line filter in place.

There is no pots line, just naked broadband

I'm left wondering if the above stats are good in the great scheme of DSL these days....
