IMO I would signup with a no contract VDSL provider see what your line is like and then make the decesion to stay with VDSL or go cable.
You could be lucky and get a 60Mbit VDSL line but at the same time you may only get 20mbit.

Yes there is are issues with VF cable in some areas at the moment but if UFB isn't an option then cable is the best way to get 50 - 100mbit speeds. Just stick clear of the TV side of cable :P

gsmithnz: A friend has recommended Snap for VDSL. Anyone had any experience with them?

I'm with Snap for fibre. Find them really good. Sure they are not the cheapest. But it is worth it. No proxy server, good ping and routing. 24 hr help desk.

Thanks mate. Good advice. The only downside for me personally being that if I drop Voda now then pick them up later I'll have to sign a new contract.

But that's not the end of the world.

I've found the VF Cable service pretty bulletproof. Only one issue in the last couple of years that I can recall. It's just their customer service that is rank.

I called the Snap call centre and sure enough got an honest-to-goodness Christchurchian who was helpful and down to earth. I'm actually pretty happy to pay a bit more for that. So I think I'll take your advice and give Snap VDSL a go.

Cheers everyone for your advice. This forum is grouse.
