defmonbart: Can you please explain to me why there is a diferance in single download speeds between maxnet and vodafone? Like i said i take my computer to both houses so as far as im awear the only diferance is the isp. Both locations have about 2Mbs top speed. The only diferance is single file download speed. Thanks for the replys so far

+1 for Jaxar providing a good response.

Over the years I have often seen many people complaining about their ISPs limiting their torrents when the ISP was not. On investigation the most common cause relates to the download host(s). In the case of Rapidgator slow downloads are at times quite common even on premium accounts.

It is worth saying that "the only difference" IS NOT "the ISP". There are a multitude of technical differences which, individually or in combination, could affect your download speeds on the two different connections. It's difficult to trust your assessment of the cause if you do not understand. Also, you don't appear to have done any technical investigation at the time to eliminate other possibilities. So it is impossible to say what exactly produced the difference without a lot more information. But I'm certain it was not Vodafone limiting your downloads if they say they were not. The days when torrenting was an ISP concern are long gone. Last I checked it torrenting was dropping to 5% of all traffic, down from a high of about a 35%.

hi sorry for the delayed reply. as of today i am on flip unlimited adsl2. i have just checked idm and i can now download a single file at full speed. this is at the same house evan with the same (vodafone) modem as i was using before when my single download speeds were limited. this eaither means 1 of 2 things. vodafone was limiting my downloads OR rapidgator was limiting them. i contacted rapidgator and they said nothing was being restricted there end. i have a full rapidgator account. so in my eyes this leaves vodafone to blame for whatever reason it may be.

Flip do actually have traffic management, and it includes rapidshare. Presumably it only applies when the network gets under stress, which will be only sometimes.

I just wonder why you went with them in the end when you asked for recommendations In this thread and literally nobody recommended them. (There is nothing wrong with them generally, just nobody reccomended them here. probably because of the traffic management)

price, and every1 made out that vodafone/all other isps don't use traffic management. and they have global mode which they say makes international traffic faster (probly a gimik)

If you have a premium account with Rapidgator it sounds like you may not have set it up correctly to work with IDM. The low speeds and the fact you cannot resume downloads would indicate this. Have you followed IDM's instructions on their website? I use Uploaded.net and IDM so I'm familiar with the process and I download at full speed...usually over 4MB/s.

You're wrong when you say that "nobody that downloads from file hosting sites replied." I do and it looks like the others do too. So it's another example of you jumping to conclusions. Anyway, I hope that you will continue to be happy with Flip and hopefully the problem won't recur.

While I've never used rapidgator I've used other file hosting sites like drop box, Google drive and way way back in the day fileplanet. I understood your logic as to why you were point the finger at Vodafone. I just think you were doing without the full benefit of information or testing to support your reasoning.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.
