That is tucked away...

But there seems to be some 3G in the area.... Maybe very patchy where you are

Maybe a 3G USB modem on a tall stick may do the trick.

I'm spending a week away in the new year with no phones, TV, internet. Replacing them with family, friends, drinks and bbq's :)

Sounds aweful.

You must have some truly amazing holidays where you never unwind and connect with family.

Lias: I'm with richms.. I mean I'll leave the gaming PC at home for some holidays, but at minimum a laptop, smartphone and usually a tablet come with, and I expect connectivity!

not sure about the gaming PC, my son wont come home from University because he cant get his pc on the bus.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I agree with Gordy as a great percentage of that area is at least 3G.

I was in a similar situation inland from the south-east coast of Australia, so attached (rubber bands) the 3G dongle/modem to a pole, jammed that upright in the roof guttering, and used a 4m USB cable through the window

darylblake: We tried to rate shape someone on our home network to 64kbps (which is faster than what v.92 56k modems do) and seriously the web was unusable these days unless you want to do something like telnet/ssh. I guess the web has just changed soo much in even the last 5 years.

You say that, but as it happens I have two relatives who still have dial up and have thus far refused to upgrade to ADSL (let alone fibre)! One of them I know is sitting on a significant pile of cash but is so stingy that, to get acceptable speeds, will use free wifi in cafes!

Looks like Maxnet still have an offering. Not sure if they have a minimum term but I'd be surprised if they did.

Pretty sure if you have a Spark broadband or mobile plan you can use casual dialup.
Otherwise if you did have an existing plan with a company they may let you signup for 1 month and you're away.
