Bit of horse trading going on between the LFCs over who gets which towns, obviously the preference is for the more affluent... I keep hearing anytime now but would be (pleasantly) surprised if it came out before Xmas.

simple answer would be a mathematical one

the LFC that has passed more houses vs the number they have in there network gets a bigger slice of the pie.

but AFAIK only one LFC is complete with two years to spare; so really only one LFC has the manpower to take on more work!

The views expressed by me are not necessarily those of my employer

Chorus are still busy in six+ cities doing the rollout. Unsure if they would provision any additional towns until after 2019.

Correct, so if you live in a Waikato small town you might have some good news soon.

Northpower in Whangarei was complete first in 2014, UFF completed this year. As for UFB2 I would be expecting something Dec/Jan news wise

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

Been hanging out for this news for so long, when is it going to end (I'm in one of the proposed UFB2 towns too). Just to add salt to the wound (although hopefully that is short lived) my neighbour 4 houses down from me recently has been able to get VDSL, but I'm still stuck with ADSL2. Yeah first world problems....

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Well here we are on 5th December 2016 and still no final answer....its been a bit over a year now.....I've checked out Spark wireless which is available here now but potential congestion and a couple of other threads here have confirmed to me a least,  that fibre is the way to go....secure, no congestion issues etc..

FYI we have a new subdivision on the way out of town to Clyde etc that is getting fibre installed... plus another smaller one on the opposite side which is getting fibre as well...

I've also passed on the press release here to Geekzone about Bodeker Scientific getting the big $14 million contract to carry out space satellite data analyse here in Alexandra... we are expecting about 25 new families to be moving in here. I would expect this adds to the pressure to get going with the fibre install here in Alexandra...  see..

http://www.bodekerscientific.com/home

Anyway I will have to keep waiting I guess...its getting rather frustrating....

Hopefully Morrinsville will be on that list..

I have also emailed the Minister Amy Adams and got a reply from a secretary that its in line for the Minister to reply to...about a month back....I hope we can get a definitive announcement shorty this month...!!!...Its been a year now of waiting to see what will happen locally with this infrastructure upgrade...

Uploading my videos to YouTube will go much faster and therefore I will be that much more productive....Laurie

Isn't most of the work for YouTube videos in the editing? Surely an upload is the only part that can be scheduled and left unattended?

Just watched the video clip on the herald site, got to love the lady complaining that her internet is so slow and that she is frustrated they do not have ufb, yet the Speedtest running on her machine showed a result of 27Mbps down.
