Just looking at this a bit more, if the % of advertised speed is calculated using both the national and international tests (as it is in the volunteer portal) then it's clearly the international speeds dragging it down. Here's a Fibre Max connection, local speeds are on par with Ookla and iperf testing, while international speeds drop the further you get from NZ.

_IF_ it turns out their analysis is that basic, then the interpretation put on the fibre results needs to be retracted IMO.

I see the biggest problem is the grouping of all fibre plans together to base an average % of maximum speed.

 

The simple reality is you will (maybe I should say should) get line speed 24/7 on 30Mbps and 100Mbps plans on every RSP in NZ to well connected NZ sources. Truenet's testing showed that. The simple real world reality is you should not expect to get that with a Gibabit connection for plenty of very obvious reasons.

 

I see a huge number of flaws and what appears to be bad data in the testing. It's no wonder it dropped the Friday before Xmas..
