ISP / personal setup plays a big part in your speed.
I have no issue with getting over 100/100 to LA on my 2degress connection.

That sucks a bit..
But in reality 100/20 is probably fine for most people.
A 200/100 plan is probably about as much as any user needs. I got a Max/500 and its dumb. If i download a game i might peak out at 400-500mbit if its in an akamai cache or something. Other than that the experience I get is negligibly different from a 200/100. And for most people not that noticeable to a 100/20.

I'd be happy if I could get that. Right now the only option is paying $30 per month with Voyager to go to gigabit from 200/20. That's too much of a jump in price for too little reward. I am forced to switch plans when I have more data to backup, and put up with slow offsite backups the rest of the time (currently around 4GB per day).

Not an RSP I'd go anywhere near looking at the comments here. How well do they rate on the review sites (Glimp, etc)?
I settled on moving to Bigpipe because they seemed to get the most votes.
Unlimited Internet / HD Net has stopped responding to my requests for the 30 day termination notice requirement to be waived. They said they had emailed all customers advising of the plan changes in August but no such email was received.
I don't believe such an email was ever sent. (Lies to make me go away...)
After the email advising that billing would move to HD Net, I would have paid due attention. I asked for a copy of the email but this has not been provided.
Yes, I'm aware they want to minimise their change costs by tying customers to their notice requirements to Chorus.
I don't care.
If they had notified me in August that the plan I was on was being retired, I would have given them their 30 days notice and I wouldn't be paying for two weeks for a service which I can't use.
As others have said, don't deal with HD Net. They don't deserve your business.
Oh, they are not on Glimp.

I signed up with Bigpipe on 14 September, moved into my new place on 25 September and the fibre installation was done today. The service was up as soon as the fibre was working. Only six days running via my phone.
>>> UPDATE <<<
Out of the blue, Ben Simpson of Unlimited Internet and HD Net called me last Saturday (12/10). He'd seen my posts here and acknowledged that several aspects could have been handled better by his staff. I made him listen to my rant for a couple of minutes after which we had a good chat.
He's stepped back from running UL / HD Net. He's a dev/ops guy at heart and was quite open about management not being his strong point. He offered a credit which I accepted. I enjoyed talking to Ben and wished him well. I would have been happy to have been credited for the two weeks I had to pay for but could not use, but he came through with substantially more than that.
What can I say, I have a natural tendency to like people who back their apology up with hard cash. Shame about the customer-hating muppets on his payroll which I had to deal with.
BTW, everything is going great with Bigpipe.
Great to hear ben reached out, Sounds like he's making an effort.
There is alot of stories in his past, but if he's trying to change, here's to him.
