BMarquis:
Lorenceo: if it weren't for the proprietary connector.

It’s not proprietary, it’s just an 8-pin mini molex. :) Maybe I’d accept ‘uncommon’, but not proprietary.

Is that really the case? I've just had a look and those looks like a PSU CPU power connector? If so just use a spare PSU? To start just jump the green cable to ground on the motherboard connector. There will be heaps of guides online for this....

Morozov: Chorus on the phone were very adamant no other cable that anyone else in New Zealand will work.

And also that delivery will be even longer than 4 days.

That's what you get with a monopoly....

Don’t do that. I’m not sure the pinout will be the same!

Nothing, at all, to do with a monopoly! It’s about ONT warranty, liability and the state of the courier services at the moment...

True, if I get a chance tomorrow I'll check the pinout of the Chorus PSU.

4 days is garbage.

Chorus need to truck roll a tech and just deliver the damn thing. They love to say how many UFB installs they complete a week, but can't have a tech rip past someone's house and drop a PSU off?!

Chorus used to do a truck roll.. And it became such a nightmare that they moved to the vastly more efficient business model of simply sending out a power supply via courier which under normal circumstances arrived overnight.

There isn't a lot Chorus can do if courier companies are inefficient at present.

Would you defend Chorus to roll trucks and not use couriers if your fibre install was delayed, as chorus trucks were busy delivery power supplies, holding up your fibre install?

The process to replace an ONT Power Cable is to fill out this form: https://www.chorus.co.nz/ont-cable-request and one of the Auckland teams will courier one out from their stocks for free either later that day in the PM or by the next AM.

As others have said you were unfortunately caught up in the lockdown. I don't know what the process was to workaround that at that time.
