tonyhughes:pcrosley: I had a Telecom rep knock on my door
I would be very surprised to hear of a rep employed by Telecom doing any of this (knocking on door, trying to upgrade your modem).
What does it say on his business card?
LOL. not only are telecom door-knocking in my neighbourhood (balmoral) but the CEO of Telecom Retail - Alan Gourdie - was one of the "reps" doing door knocking...! I assume this was some sort of publicity thing as there were a couple of guys with cameras that were tailing them. One point they made was that the ADSL2+ was active on our exchange and the internet would be faster. I didnt bother to point out that my sync speed had increased by a mere 1000bps since switching to an ADSL2+ profile.... I did asd them if they had fibre running down my street - the answer was "probably not". I suggested that perhaps they should look at laying fibre any in streets that get completely dug up by anyone. I'm not sure if the street was dug up for cabling - or just to replace the pavements... but there were diggers and concreters and a several weeks of effort and now an entirely new footpath and driveways at every address.
