I thought he lived in Clevedon? They have (or are getting) fibre, surely.

So what has changed from last year? His address doesn't show a Chorus connection anymore so I actually think he has better broadband now and has not told anyone. Or has his router situated in the worst possible location so the "WiFi" doesn't reach the area he needs.

Double-dick.

It didn't show broadband last year, just a POTS line, nothing has changed

Must be trying to connect to the neighbour's wifi....

but in all seriousness might have a second line with broadband, often things don't show properly. My grandma's address shows she has no services but has fibre

It wouldn't suprise me if his "Poor wi-fi" was actually that and not his actual broadband connection... As others have said, there are a number of WISPs in that area (I'm sure he could afford the couple of $k to get setup correctly if internet was that much of a priority to him). I'm guessing his setup will be the typical single ISP supplied AP down one end of the house, While his is office is down the other end and gets crap signal.

It's quite a nice and convenient excuse to get out of the house, smart man. Really wished I could use that as go crazy being at the same spot practically the entire last 2 weeks.

If a plastic factory is essential service I can't see why this is less essential than that, so no issues here.

I have not lived in a rural property with POTS so i can't comment. I find my gigafibre a bit slow so I cannot imagine anything less.

What I find astonishing is 12 months on he's basically done 0 about it, despite having options available.

Bung: I find it harder to believe that he doesn't have an apartment or similar alternative to regularly driving back and forth than poor communications at the farm.

Jesus, don't you know, Kiwi's (especially politicians) aren't allowed two homes, in case one isn't 100% utilized. Don't you know we are in a housing crisis and this is the solution!?

Surely he would have just spent a crap load of council (therefore from me and other victims of overcharging) cash on sorting this out? I am sure there are many overpriced consultants that could have sorted this out for around $100k in the year that it has been.

But can the plastic factory conceivably work from home? The guidance is “work from home if possible” that applies to essential workers just as much.

I actually don’t care where Goff spends his working day. He’s just as useless wherever he sets up (personal opinion).

There is no reason he cannot have better connectivity in that area. I have people in that very area that for sub $1500 have an RBI connection of perfectly useable internet.

Given what his annual take home is, like most things with the AKL council, he's doing it wrong

He's back in the media again. This time for having Covid-19 but he still hasn't upgraded his internet connection.

Make that 18 months. Jeez, he could probably even get Starlink and use that! So why doesn't he do something like that instead of complaining??
