bigPipe, Gigabit plan. $109, no contract.
Pay $45 for a static IP.
Solid!
The little things make the biggest difference.

...Vodafone ... "fiber" network not working in a power cut...
Genuine question:
Does any NZ fibre supplier promise connectivity in a power outage ?
Even if my house's ONT & router is kept alive with backup power - what about the Chorus network and the ISP's own kit ?
Anyone know ?

I've been with Slingshot for a few years now and have been happy with their service.
I orginally went with them because I found a good sign up deal on https://www.glimp.co.nz/ but there are a few deals on this site.
Seems it came with a static IP? have only see the IP change once.
Have usually called them at the end of each contract to make sure i'm not pay full price for my plan (shop around and compare and ask them to match it).
They have tried to get me to sign up with their power plans but they don't match what i've currently got.

Do you like your Traffic going to Australia and Back?
Not really, but most of my traffic comes from places other than NZ. The traffic that does come from NZ isn't particularly media heavy, so not such a big deal really.
Vodafone gigabit fibre would be $89 a month for me (mobile with Vodafone). Yes, their service desk sucks. But once it's running I'll probably not need to call them. And that's $20 a month cheaper than BigPipe.

Promise? No idea. I find that if I have a power cut in my house, given I have a UPS on the router etc it keeps working. My understanding (which could well be incorrect) is that fiber is passive to the exchange, and exchanges have generators and such, so it's fairly reliable. I think (again could be wrong) that the Vodafone cable network uses pole mounted repeaters that need power to function, but I don't know if they have a battery or such.

Good luck if you need to change anything or have a fault/issue with your connection.

Yup, like I say it's been adequate. It burns up a bit of my time, but the help desk people are actually friendly and nice. It's just that they're clueless. You can generally muddle it through after a while, and if not, then post on here gets support. Most help desks are pretty useless in most companies, so that's not news. And I probably use them once every 2 years. It's a tradeoff. But everything's a tradeoff. I'm just saying it's not a "definitely don't use them", it's a "go in with your eyes open, and you'd need a reason to use them instead of someone else - like having your mobile with them and getting a discount, or just liking a particular feature of their plan."
I've never had to call Vodafone about my broadband, and I doubt I ever will. Fibre is pretty rock solid and if there's an issue chances are it's either a Chorus outage or in your own home and not something they can help with anyway
It's $59/month for 100 Mbps. I really can't complain.

Think you missed the point, certain NZ traffic from certain ISPs takes a trip across to Australia (or Hongkong sometimes) and Back due to lack of peering

Nope, didn't miss the point at all. I'm politely saying that I know that peering would be nice for the NZ ISP community, particularly the smaller ISPs, but that as an end user it makes basically no difference to me at all, so it's not a criteria that I use in picking my ISP. Peering wouldn't impact Netflix streaming, Youtube, downloads of various linux packages, or video conferencing with work (which is hosted in Azure Australia anyway). Those are my high bandwidth consumption activities. If my visits to the NZ Herald transit the Tasman, so be it (although I suspect they probably don't, depending on where NZ Herald hosts).
Is the OP coming back? Lots of recommendations here!
Probably blew through his mobile data 😁
