The blue/white pair are your incoming line. One cable will come from the street, one into the house. Can you just visually follow the cable to see which one is which?

The red crimp is terminating the red/black unused pair. Given the other red/black pair looks twisted together, it's a reasonable guess the pair that has the termination crimp comes from the street, the pair with the knot goes to the house.

You will need to either run a new cable from the ETP to the modem location, or if the first jackpoint that the black cable goes to is where you want to put the modem jack, then use the spare red/black pair.

So in terms of the blue either pair as my incoming line? Would I need too join the blues with the blue wire from the splitter same with the white? Would that be identified as the phone wiring or the LINE IN wires?

Orange/white on the filter goes to your street
Blue/White on the filter goes to your phone Jacks
Green/White on the filter goes to the dedicated DSL Jack

you may find this post helpful: I did!

Forums › Home Workshop DIY › Master splitter?

Back in 2012, we moved to Kapiti, needed a landline, and had to get Chorus in to fix some of the internal phone wiring. While the technician was there, I asked him to put in a master splitter, which cost another $20 on the callout.

But it immediately doubled the ADSL speed from 9 to 18Mbps , and when it was upgraded to VDSL some years later, we got a consistent 65/30 Mbps instead of the expected 40/15.

So persist - it should be well worth it

The simplest way to find out which cable is which is probably just to cut a phone cable in half, connect a telephone, and just see which of the two cables gets you dial tone. The blue and white in that cable is your incoming pair, and goes to the input on the splitter. Leave the red and black from that cable disconnected.

The blue and white in the other cable goes to all your phone jacks. It gets connected to the phone output on the splitter.

Then you need to connect the DSL output on the splitter to your modem. You could either run a new cable from the master splitter to a new phone jack, or use the red/black pair in the cable to your house, and connect another jack at the first phone socket. You might need to get under the floor to trace out which one this is.

In regards to the modem cable I’m making a new dsl jack for the cat cable just wondering do I just use the single green pair on the cat cable to the cat socket ?

Yes, green pair is fine.

If you're using cat5/cat6, the standard is the blue+blue/white pair, but it really doesn't matter as long as both wires are in the same pair.

For DSL off the filter is the green pair for the cable is the standar but it needs to terminate to blue pair on the socket

UPDATE

So I have installed the master splitter to the correct wires and have installed a dedicated line for the DSL

But I am still getting interferences with the home line side? I simply pick up the phone and it disconnects the DSL and reconnects itself?

Would it be because of in house phone wiring ? It hasn’t seemed to have isolated the phone from the dsl

Any suggestions please?

Could be also be that I don’t have a master socket installed ? Or that if there was a internal phone wiring problem could I simply install new wiring with a 2 pair cable

Photos of how everything is all connected now would be helpful.

I don’t currently have any photos but as stated previously by other people

I connected the white-blue to splitter white blue
Orange to blue and white too white for line in
And green pair or cat6 too green white from the splitter

I still get disconnects from the phone line could it be I had installed it wrong ?
