Looking forward to it @danfaulknor!

@cyril7 thanks for the suggestion. If I can use vi I reckon configuring a router should be okay :-) Might try the Vodafone router to see if it works, and order the Mikrotik as a better long term solution.

Depends on how Prodigi provision connections

@danfaulknor are you able to share that?

If its DHCP/VLAN10 the Vodafone modem will just work, otherwise you might need change it to PPPoE

cyril7:

Hi, I assume you have the Vodafone Ultra Hub currently, if so then that can continue to do what it does on Fibre. If it were me I would be getting an RB4011, excellent router or the slightly more expensive 5009, but does require skill to setup, that said there is a quickset mode that covers most settings easily. Some folk around here scold folk for recommending Mikrotik saying they are too complex to recommend to everyday users, this is true, but still by far the best routers for the $ out there.

Cyril

HAP AC3 has the same CPU as the RB4011 so much better choice price wise if you don't need the ports

We can do either, so it sounds like I'm doing DHCP/VLAN10 for this one :)

Just make sure if you are using it as a router only you disable the two wifi radios before disconnecting the Antennas

I have already fried one :)

Put the Vodafone router into bridge mode instead of PPP and we're online at 1.30pm :-)

this applies to any wifi device or radio transmitter. Best to leave the antennas connected.
