acetone:

No mention of static IPs on the website, unless I missed it somewhere.

Correct.

Technically neither PPPoE nor DHCP is needed. xDSL and UFB are just layer-2 connections. For my own connection I just use a PTP /30 and /126 setup. But for ISP's supplying commodity connections this is not scalable so PPPoE or DHCP is used.

With the price of IPv4 sitting around NZ$18k per /24, static IPv4's are something it doesn't make much sense for an ISP to give away. Those who have IP space (incl us) are HODLing it.

Hi,

Zeronet are now offering 6 months half price. Seems like a great deal, considering they offer dynamic IPv4 and IPv6

Anyone currently with them and what’s the performance like?

Signed up with them earlier this year. Don't notice a difference between them & 2Degrees.

I miss my static IP. Had problems getting VFNZ modems to connect, no such issues with the Fritz!Box or other generic modems.

If they are using devoli's network, the sustainability statement is a bit of a gimmick.... sure it might not be their equipment but it's a key part of providing the service!

The ONT's we have seen lately are either in garage cabinets or cupboards.

Not a great start to using the built in WiFi would have thoughts

I guess that helps towards the idea of having zero network, if there's no signal :P

Sorry, have never used this ISP, they may be great, just seemed a good opportunity for a pun, because my first impression of their name is that I will have no network...

It could be worth a try. It seems to be a similar signup to how stuff fibre was. They only offer a Pre Paid plan (it’s seem to be the new way, even quic is the same)

Currently with One NZ and have no issues with their performance, so to save a few $$ is it worth going to a reseller of a service? Or stick to the proven One NZ network.

Also I am in ChCh so they may not have a local IX?
