Linux: Oh 2degrees is moving customers to the Vocus stack you may need to change the router configuration

No, not true. The move is happening without people even knowing. No router configuration change needed.

No WAN light = no Ethernet connection to the ONT. Reboot the ONT and also both replace the Ethernet cable + try the 2nd ethernet port of the ONT.

I hadn't tried rebooting the ONT, so will try that.

My house has a splitter type set up in the ONT box with ethernet through the walls to various areas of the house. I will try plug the router directly into the ONT - I guess that will tell me if the ethernet cord in the wall to the central cupboard where the router currently is is stuffed.

Try the first and 2nd ethernet port of the ONT too.

Your provider should be in the best position to help you troubleshoot this. They should be able to confirm the settings and or send out a new preconfigured router, either at no, or relatively low cost, that should be almost plug and play.

WoodyThemMilkMan: I checked the chorus ONT (ONT Model Types 100 and 200 | Chorus) and the power/optical lights are green, and LAN2 is solid orange, which seems to mean we have internet at the ONT.

WoodyThemMilkMan: I am in Wigram, Christchurch.

Isn't that Enable not Chorus?

Ah the ONT has chorus on the front. Talking to the CC they reckon the ONT is fine anyway.

Call centre confirmed I'm using the correct port in LAN2 and nothing has changed there, and that the ONT is working as expected.

Going to see if I can factory reset the router, otherwise I will have to try find a spare one from a mate to try or buy a new one I guess.

Factory reset will guarantee no Internet.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Turns out a factory reset and re-setup of the router did the trick. No idea what settings changed that caused it to stop working but it's going now.

Thanks for all your help everyone!

You raise a good point, perhaps a guest staying was trying to gain access to the Internet via Wi-Fi, a factory reset on ISP supplied routers could get you up and running using the Wi-Fi access key printed on the underside of the router.

Or a more sinister possibility the router has a vulnerability and can be remotely reset over the Internet? I would make sure the router's firewall is turned on.

I get the feeling OP should update it's firmware. I've seen two ASUS CPEs do very weird things after a few years when you don't update it's firmware.

The RT-N56U after two years forgot what it's WAN settings were.
RT-AC68U would also do the exact same thing but in a far more spectacular fashion where it wouldn't just forget WAN but also DHCP would just die locally(since updating it's yet to do this again and is now just a back up of a back up).
My RT AX3000 has yet to fallen over. Approaching year two mark this year.

At least they fixed their PPPoE.

Yet to see a CPE other than an ASUS do anything of that nature.
