I have my own domain, so I'm wondering if that makes it less susceptible to spam. I imagine a lot of spammers are targeting gmail addresses by putting random character combinations before the @, knowing that there is a high probability of it getting through to a legitimate address.

Gmail has been fine - but txt spam has suddenly started appearing.
I never had any until the last couple of weeks. Its all 'vehicle toll unpaid" and "NZpost delivery" junk.
The Samsung phones are using the Google Messages app now at least.
It has marked, moved and blocked the SPAM accurately so far.

I'm seeing a huge increase in spam to my main gmail account. Mostly betting/casino sites, but I'm also seeing a lot of pro-republican / pro Trump emails aimed at US voters.
Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
I keep Gmail for disposable email and have had a few brief bursts of lonely lady spam in the past, but nothing recently.
