I'm currently on hold with them to see if I cannot get more information.
checking ns[1-3].discountdomains.co.nz I noticed the three where all in different IP blocks - perhaps there's a heartbeat between the three servers which is configured incorrectly (i.e. not to detect and ensure HA)
We have just over 50 domains with Discount Domains and I can say after todays events and lack of communication via their status page/twitter, we will look to move them all. Poor service!

I was thinking about this before - Their main site is up but not secure.discount..... to login to your account - If you can't login and at least request a UDAI we are all a bit stuck.

People on Reddit on the NZ subreddit who have gotten through to their call centre have been told all systems are down internally and they have very little access to things. It smells like a ransomware/crypto situation. If that is the case, this might be a long outage.

I suspect that this is the same outage as the one that is impacting Free Parking currently. They at least have a status page: https://status.freeparking.co.nz/
When I tried to get through, wait time was 65 minutes. I waited...

You'd think they'd have a msg/outage notification somewhere to at least let all their customers know what's going on and an ETA on resolve.
Definitely moving my domains after this (and this will be the last time I have anything sitting with NZ service providers that don't have the infrastructure/systems to manage issues timely and effectively).
We can all breath a sign of relief now as they've updated their status page....... To acknowledge an issue (We know!)....... That their engineers are investigating. That's it.

I wonder if we can ask for data from the DNC tomorrow on UDAI requests and domain transfers. I suspect it'll be a big day.

awojtas: Has anyone investigated transferring their domain from DiscountDomains to another provider while DD is down?
I've only ever done transfers where both source and destination domain hosts were up and responding.
