Update:

Last night I switched my DSL modem cables from the Computer Dynamics 5m RJ12 to 2m RJ12 version. This straight away gave me a speed boost of around 5Mbps. I attribute this to the fact I had wrapped up the extra length and this may have caused some inductance.

My Draytek DV2765 arrived today and I wasted no time in setting it up and testing it. I am pleased to announce the speed gain going from G.993.2 (Earlier models DV130, DV2762) is real. This gave me a further 13Mbps on top of last night's gain.

This is not quite as much as the Fritzbox (Speed Test around 93Mbps) but there is nothing about that product which could persuade me to use it for the extra 7Mbps. Additionally, its possible all the "testing" may have knocked me back a bit.

In summary I have gone from a respectable 68Mbps to an even better 86Mbps.

That is a nice line, what is the estimated ELT distance?

I know exactly where the line runs so can plot it on Google maps and we are looking at around 360m.

Update:

Using a different ST server its looking to be around 90 / 19.

I also tested it on another VDSL connection which was around 25/1 and it gained an extra 2Mbps of download.

So definitely a good line thing where the >$400 price tag would have the most gain.

For the 90/19 id stick with the VDSL but for the 25/1 I would put the customer on Starlink

Unless there is a specific reason for keeping the VDSL (e.g. Static IP)

Vectored

actual Retransmission Mode Downstream rtx.mode.in.use   Upstream rtx.mode.in.use

I have had a look at my previous screenshots and G.993.2 "vector friendly" also shows as quoted above.

So most certainly from Chorus point of view there are 2 levels of "vectoring".

Initial indications are it shows "g9932" either way. Whether this is just the only vectoring profile title they have I don't know. Will be interesting to see if it stays the same or resets at any time.
