its indeed on a CGNAT, which is why I want a static IP. The IP my fibre gets allocated, is not the same IP that whatismyip shows.

using my ubuntu machine, using speedtest-cli, I get 228 Mbps down (29.61 ms   (jitter: 31.83ms, low: 16.51ms, high: 475.85ms) and 0.38 Mbps up (672.80 ms   (jitter: 80.58ms, low: 105.66ms, high: 1999.38ms)) with packet loss of 97.7%?!!!!? WHAT?!

will try with the two port router that Contact provided.

Factory reset the Fritz and configure it again. I have had them where they persist to have some whackky rate limits on them even tho the UI shows you have it as 1000/500 if they have been provisioned on DSL in the past and those rates seem to stick on the PPPoE interface.

Yeah this is weird. I suspect there is something going on with your network here that you should really sort first.

But if you wanted an ISP that has a once-off cost for a static then Quic is pretty solid these days. There are referral links in peoples signatures on here for a free connection. I am hosting a radio station from my connection (https://thecheese.co.nz) that works pretty well.

With Quic, theres that DCEFS filter... does that send traffic off to somewhere, and return, adding a few hops/latency/bandwidth loss? Or is that handled in the ISP itself?

It works on a blocking level to some IP addresses. Many larger ISP's use it (current list) but it doesn't send traffic off to a third party or anything like that to determine if a site should be blocked. It's more like if an IP address / domain name exists on the filter it is dropped by the ISP in real time.

How do I properly set up the Fritzbox for fibre? I did factory-reset it, had to, to reset the password, as it was left behind by the rental tenants of old and they never left the password with it. Didn't clear the 2degrees ISP item, which is what its using now.

@Ditori It should just connect. If not, it's DHCP on VLAN 10.

What do you need to host?

I'm doing everything I need with a Cloudflare tunnel on 2D with CGNAT.

Just a web server, with a few websites, one virtualhost being a Koha ILS - Integrated Library System.

How much does it cost?

Cost of a domain name + time to set up Cloudflare Zero Trust Tunnel. Plenty of guides online on how to do it. But will work for your usecase.

The domain name can stay with your current registrar but you will need to set Cloudflare as the name servers.

Create a free account with Cloudflare then add your domain and it will take you through the steps.
Free account is all you need.
