We use the stop/start Skinny wireless in Whangamata. It is OK most of the year but often unusable in peak Christmas/New Year due to network contention.

You could also look at a provider with no contract term, get fibre installed with them and then disconnect it when you're not there.

Not sure if you would be eligible for the Skinny Jump offering. It does use Spark 4G rather than UFB

We moved from wireless to fibre at the beach house when Skinny offered six months free on a 12 month fixed term a few years back. Have recently downgraded from Skinny 300/100 to Quik's cheaper 50/20 uncapped plan which is now $60pm.
The speed is fine for working from home and the Wyze cameras and using Plex remotely and surfing.
"50/20 ought to be enough for anybody." : not Bill Gates, 2024
We're using Quic's 50/10 plan at our holiday home. There is no contract term but its not as easy as unsubcribing from a stremaing service if you want to turn it off when you are not there. Would be awesome if you could just hit pause and resume when necessary.
Hey there!
If you already have fibre installed, you might be able to connect services with Broadband & Internet New Zealand (www.bainz.co.nz). We offer open-term contracts on a monthly basis, which may give you the flexiblity you need for your batch.
However, if fibre isn't available or installed yet, we can initiate this installation on your behalf if your address is covered by the fibre company that serves in your area (i.e. Chorus). Just keep in mind that this might take a bit of time, especially with the Christmas and New Year period coming up.
Hope that helps! 😊 If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Good to know. I'm sure many bach owners would be keen on an option to switch on at the start of December and off at the end of March.
coffeebaron: Which town is this in / near if you don't mind us asking. Someone may be able to contribute a bit more info knowing this.

Yes I did, but I have also said that mobile coverage has improved in the last year or two with a new tower going up on a hilltop in the area.
I am mindful that this location's population swells enormously in the summer and cellular contention would probably be an issue.
I have actually approached 2d since that tower was installed and they would not supply a wireless broadband kit citing contention issues.
May be best to avoid mobile broadband as a solution.
