What perplexes me is that the ONT has no transmitted packets to my router during the time. As if the device is disconnected. Is that normal..?

Yep. Chorus have been completing a significant scope of work which involves updating switching equipment around the country, which is upstream of the OLT connecting to your ONT, so makes sense you wouldn’t be receiving packets from your ONT while works are actively taking place.

My views are as unique as a unicorn riding a unicycle. They do not reflect the opinions of my employer, my cat, or the sentient coffee machine in the break room.

Wish they would do it during the day when I am at work so internet outages give me time to think about something else.

Problem with that is then you get businesses or people working from home complaining that they're losing service during the day.

Well I had bad latency and a drop out around 1pm today while I was home sick so I guess the internet just hates me.
