I tried the 4g/5g broadband for home and had to return it as it just wasn't cutting it.
Was that with a reception aerial or was the modem standalone?
Depending on tree coverage, it's quite possible OP was hitting Muriwai or Waiatarua.
There is a RCG tower close by, but it's an infill tower that has significantly less coverage than one would assume for a 3x B28 tower. It's location would have been an easy install and is a slight dip in the middle of the surrounding towers. Personally knowing the coverage area, I would say that B3 + B28 would have been better as it's rare that a B28 + B28 + B28 combo is available in the chipsets.
VDSL is a solid option assuming the copper hasnt been spliced a ton, airfibre has fairly decent coverage along the section OP is in all the way up.
