Look how much they already heavily prioritize traffic on some ISP's, does anyone here seriously think they will get the relative increases in speed? What happens to the national network when within a short space of time 10, 25, 50,000+ people are on vdsl2? Think I'll wait until this is well embedded into the network, and watch 1000's of guinea pigs rage across forums nationally. FYI - I am hopeful that all does go well :)

As soon as there is a naked option I am on it, unless annex M becomes available at a much lower price. Upload is chocked virtually all the time on my connection with seeding torrents and other things like camera uploads etc.

jjnz1: Worldnet have release what looks like VDSL plans... WTF?

I thought Telecom were still in soft launch with no hard pricing as of yet.
Has anyone enquired about this plans?

http://www.worldnet.co.nz/personal/vdsl2/

I know Worldnet are not well respected, Just curious about this offering.

120GB for $139.00 with up to 55MB down and 30MB up...interesting.

"1. Broadband speed - Full Speed or "FS" means the maximum speed that the DSLAM can support on the End User's line downstream. "10" means a maximum line speed of 10Mbps upstream. Actual speeds may vary, depending on factors such as CPE and wiring, the presence of a VDSL2 compatible splitter, Service Provider environment, volume of traffic, End User location and network congestion."

where are you reading 30mb up?

Actually its saying 55Mbyte/sec and 30Mbyte per sec which is pretty good even from VDSL2.

Are they using their own gear rather than telecoms? cause the t.nz deal is only 50/10 isn't it? Or do they get to prov ports on tw diff from tr?

They are using Telecoms gear, your actual line speed can be well over 50/10, with 60/30 begin quite common, however with a 96kb/s handover 50/10, 60/30 may as well be 10,000/5000 result will be similar.

ya well that's a whole other issue that I'm still trying to get my head around. This hand over issue just demonstrates a return to the 'confusion days' in my mind.

World net are crap.

Customer service are a bunch of retards, if you can even get through to them.
Their avg user speed tests are only breaking 5mbit.

Having been with them myself they are shocking.

They even lied to us & told us it was telecoms exchange that im on that was causing the bad speeds & outrageous ping times, which I then rang telecom & chorus to ask if there was any issues & they both said that there was nothing wrong and it was operating fine & that there wasnt even any network issues in the area.

Wouldn't even let us get out of the dc fee.

Tbh World nets vdsl2 is a marketing thing.

Good stuff too...  If it pushes some other ISPs to get products out in to the market then that's great.

I have seen and used Thompson, 2wire and Alcatel (Cellpipe) modems all with Telepermits.

Currently I think you will find the above is all there is that can be used, but to be honest the above a more than capable of whats required.

What justifies the internals of a vdsl modem being worth $200 more than an adsl2 modem? Good ole supply and demand?
