kawaii:NonprayingMantis: I would say that pricing it so high means that the ratio of vampires to non-vampires is going to be much higher than on BigTime, Go Large or Slingshots AYCE plan.
There would have been quite a lot of people on big Time etc using, say, 10GB, and just buying hte plan for price certianty since it was pretty close in price to the 10GB plan. So although some people were downloading terabytes, the average was probably closer to 100GB I reckon. maybe even a bit less.
But nobody who uses less than 200GB would buy this plan though, since they are offering 200GB for $30 less, so the average user on this plan will probably be somewhere in the 4-500GB range.
therefore I suspect the service will likely be a lot *worse* than those plans.
If you ran an AYCE buffet and price it close to the price of a normal meal, say at $25/head, then you will get some fatties who stuff their faces and cost you lots of money, but you will also get a lot of people who only eat a little bit and they subsidise the fatties.
If you priced your AYCE buffet at $150/head though, then the only people you will get will be the humungous fatties who eat far more $ worth of food than the revenue will cover.
200GB for $129.95 isn't too bad though.
I doubt there will be the data vampire issue given that it is $159.95 and not sub-$100 like the BigTime plan was - I'll bet my bottom dollar most of the data vampires were cheapskates hence the idea of paying more than $100 for a connection would send them into having a heart attack.
that is precisely the reason they will all be data vampires. The only people who would pay $160 for an unmited connection would be people who want to use it as much as possible.
Bigtime was attractive to non-vampires because it was so cheap (same price as 20Gbplan IIRC). This will not be even remotely attractive to non-vampires because they can get their 10-20GB for about a third of the price.
