Beccara: Ummm unless something's changed I don't believe APNIC allows you to "sell" v4 space. I shudder to think what would happen to the global route table size if a free market is allowed to occur with v4 space

I guess when the decision comes up to allow trading or not, it would be limited to national trading only.

Time to find a new industry!

National trading or not, Splitting up currently aggregated ranges is going to explode the size of the global route tables. Cisco is concerned about this with a cisco engineer reporting that widespread trading could cause the table to balloon from 360k route's to over 700k route's. All that cost of router memory upgrades and it might buy us a year tops

The Herald has an article today which states that the "Internet Address and Naming Agency" has handed out the last block of addresses. Is there actually an agency called that, or is this another case of stellar reporting, making it up as they go along?

Did you do a search for IANA?

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Gordy7: Did you do a search for IANA?

IANA is the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority and I'm well aware of its existence. I was mainly poking fun at the Herald for renaming the Authority to the "Internet Address and Naming Agency" but I phrased it as a question in case the Agency is actually real and to find out if that's the case. It seems from your response that it indeed does not exist.
