Don't forget to factor in the $45-$50 that a POTS line costs you. (You need it for DSL, unless you go for naked DSL, which is ~$65-$70 with ~0-10GB of data)

Edias, did you settle on a choice ?

Please let us know how it works out, NZNet seem very attractive, if their perfotrmance is ok.

I'm currently on Slingshot's unmetered all you can eat plan. Speeds are generaly around 2 mbits/sec which is fine for heavy downloading however the prioritisation slingshot run for streaming etc doesn't work well so you get buffering issues with hd(or even some 480p) streams.

acetone: Welcome to NZ.  You won't be able to get anything near what you were getting in the US.  Orcon or nznet maybe your best bet, but for your budget you won't be getting any where near 400-500gigs a month.

^ This.

Until the Pacific Fibre cable is laid Southern Cross will continue to inflict upon us outrageous prices to appease their shareholders.

I still didn't take a decision about this yet. But I stumbled in a a thread about NZNET that may interest you.
