I get 15Mbps from Windows update and Apple iTunes, I expect they're both on Akami. To the US I get 2-3Mbps from my server via ftp.

That's correct, Apple uses Akami.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

Akamai, using Xnet's Akamai servers, as an Xnet fibre customer:
Can get 3.6MB/s (~30Mbps) download speed using my Xnet fibre connection for Apple and Microsoft updates sometimes.

Try these files:

http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-1632.20110607.SUch3/iTunes10.3.1.dmg
- Apple Akamai (~78MB)

http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/3/0/d30e32d8-418a-469d-b600-f32ce3edf42d/WindowsXP-KB936929... - Microsoft Akamai (~313MB)

Both download at 1.71 MBytes/sec this is on a laptop connected by N 300 wifi router, connecting at 138Mbit on the laptops N reciever. Will try the desktop later which is ethernet connection to the router

So I tried download this file using Getright, so I could graph the download speed.  Look at this weird pattern.  It climbs to a peak, can't seem to handle it and then drops to almost nothing, and then repeats.  Is this normal?  What might it indicate?

Bumping. Can anyone comment on the graph above that shows my download stop-start-stop-starting?

Is this usual download behaviour or indicative of a problem?
