Well, Theresa Gattung said that in June it would be available in certain areas (not named) on two separate programs & also Juha heard it from several people from Telecom. To quote Juha: "Anyway, Theresa said June. The spokestrolls said June. Telecom's managers said June (yes, I spoke to them directly)."

I find this conflicting information rather odd.

Yeah, I know, but of would of been nice if they were abit upfront about the 6 month delay of the implementation of ADSL2+.

Can anyone find any quotes from TG in regard to this, and please include links to sources, because I think you will find (I can't recall otherwise) that TG said 'from June', she also used the word rollout too, as in 'rollout from June'.

In regard to this misinformation, perhaps we can blame bad reporting? But that’s a whole new argument, and one, I (for one) do not really want to get into.

Since when have Telecom been answerable to you? Would you maybe like them to start consulting with you on future service rollouts, so they can achieve a timeframe that suits you. Heres the dirty little secret, they dont answer to you or anybody else on here for that matter.

They will release ADSL2+ when it is ready to be released. You cannot surely expect them to roll out a huge upgrade like that within only a couple of months. From everything i read at the time it suggested that they would BEGIN to rollout ADSL2+ in June with the hope of it being available by the end of the year. It was never promised to be available for use in June.

I for one don't believe anything in the press anymore as its mostly just so wrong.

We have heard nothing but complaining about Telecom and Vodafone for a long time around here. When something goes wrong or people dont like something we hear a lot about it. But if and god forbid that that might happen something goes right, we never hear about it because its expected and people will still have something to complain about. It would be nice if we could all be a little less cynical and negative about everything.

Brad, since when did I ever imply that Telecom is answerable to me? Please, making statements like that are just unnecessary & very much incorrect. I'm not making a personal attack against the company that you work for, as your post implies, I was merely wanting to know why the service didn't start in June (middle of the year) as Theresa Gattung had stated in two separate media interviews, both on the Sunday Program & the TV3 program, Campbell Live.

Please don't take this personally Brad, it's a legitimate question, not a dig at Telecom, in fact with all the changes going on at the moment, I believe Telecom deserve to be congratulated, especially with their forsight into structural separation, well done to them.

Also, thanks to the many informative replies from the people who have posted constructive information about this topic, it's been good to have some insight into the whole issue.

You will be surprised to find out Brad does not work for Telecom, not even in Telecommunications.

Well, they didn't start offering to the public, but certainly have their network being deployed, otherwise we wouldn't hear about some trials. So, what's the problem, really? Let's just wait.

[sarcasm] And of course, if they don't deploy soon enough, I am pretty sure other companies have lots of interest in investing in New Zealand's future, right? Oh, no plans for their own fixed line broadband networks? I am sorry then. [/sarcasm].

See my point? Every other ICT provider complains about Telecom, but no one provides good answers or a comparable service.

We have already found that large project sometimes don't go according to plan, or simply that we don't know what the plan is! It's up to Telecom to come out and say "Here, this is our latest offering". When they do it, well, it's done.

Better to have it right, then early and wrong.

I am sorry, but since the first post I thought this was a flame bait thread. I communicated with the OP and it seemed it was not, so I let the thread flow. Albeit full of good information from a lot of people, it does not serve its intended purpose, which is to answer the original question "why didn't Telecom release 24Mbit ADSL in June?".

And you all know what happens to threads that go off-topic.
