sidefx: I think you really want something with at least twisted pair though.

For the RFI slider - mine made a decent difference to errors one notch to the left, without much change in sync or throughput that I noticed. Most others who tried it didn't see any difference in errors I think, but with yours showing so much RFI I wonder if it might have more effect on the error rate...

Okay I will test it tonight and see how it goes.

So I tried to move the DSL line settings like it was suggested above.

Guess what it broke my connection. The DSL light just flashes and doesn't sync.

Why would moving that cause the DSL to break is beyond me. It says that if the DSL doesn't work move the slider I did that yet nothing.

Called the support they said that the port was locked and he did a port reset which didn't fix the issue.

Apparently we shouldn't be changing that setting according to the CSR.

Sigh back to having no internet

and this is why, snap should stop sending fritzboxes with the new firmware and leaving autoupdate on..........

downgrade to .22 .. your port probably needs to be manually dropped and opened again (i had this when i tried a bit of tweaking while on the other firmwares) as to chorus they will see your connection as still connected - even if you unplug it..

not sure why it happens, but it seems to take a tech going to the cabinet to fix normally (assuming they actually notice what is wrong, took me two techs and a few days to get that far..)

didnt know the bug existed for changing performance settings too, thats really not great... hopefully snap catch on to stop sending vdsl customers modems with that firmware...

@Sam, might pay to note that anyone on the new firmware should stay well away from the dials without unplugging their fritz from the jack first.

Could anyone confirm if the issue with Broadcom cabinets has been fixed with the new firmwares?
I have a 7340, good line stats on it, would be nice if I could actually upgrade the firmware without everything breaking.

Really? This just makes me hate Fritzbox. If it wasn't for the integrated VoIP requirement imposed on me I would not be using Fritzbox, it seems to be very unstable.

with the 5.0 OS, AVM have absolutely screwed it. atlest for the copper network here.

5.0 also seems to have a few nat table crashes too...

why do you want to upgrade?

I want to upgrade to 6.01 because they have apparently introduced better parental controls and we have some boarders that can rack up a high internet usage if not monitored. Would be nice to have those features.

Yea but already have enough devices, I would use my Asus RT-AC66U to do the job but with the integrated VoIP requirement I cant do that without introducing double NAT.

Meh, I've run double NAT for years with 0 issues whatsoever (assuming you can disable the firewall / expose the next hop toward the LAN fully.

In other news, Hio rejoice!

Got resynced last night, but for some reason my fritz was unresponsive this morning.  After the reboot I've had a 4mbit speed drop!  I think we can now safely say that that kind of drop in SNRM is a BAD thing! :D

my dreams came true!

jokes aside, after my line did that, was when i lost about 10mbit.. it seemed to scale down my maximum possible signal ratio..

now that im 17a, that scale down is even more clear too..

maybe our resident chorus might have some insight on why dlm does that after a SNR dip like that?
