as steve has said, 44~ is getting close to the max floor for 8b, anything over 50 is pushing it a little.

you might just come in for a 17a maybe.. given the 6db

@Time2303: What is your attenuation and sync at? Those errors don't look all that worrisome to me (FEC maybe a little high, but I think we've seen worse - keep in mind FEC errors have been successfully corrected so aren't really a cause for much concern and won't impact throughput - CRC errors are the ones to watch!)

high FECs can often kill do funny things to the fritz.

Hmm I tried moving the Line Settings towards the left (stability) as it was on the far right and now even after putting them back it's not connecting, I'll get those stats after I fix this.

Might be worth looking at downgrading to 5.22 - Judging by many people experiences in this thread, later versions seem to cause no end of trouble with VDSL...

Only place I can find the download is http://fritzbox.com.au/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=144&d=1333498566 and of course, they have moderation on.. after a few hours my account hasn't been approved so I haven't been able to download the firmware.

Just refer to the original post in this thread - links are there :)

FritzBox Firmware Updates
As at September 2013, the latest firmware available for the FRITZ!Box 7340 & 7490 is as follows:
7340 - 99.05.51
7390 - 84.05.51

However, due to a number of issues, the recommended firmware versions are:
7340 - 99.05.22
7390 - 84.05.22

You can obtain the downgrade images using the links on the version numbers above. There is also an official AVM downgrade guide.

Hello there,

I am new to this forum so bare with me.

I have recently just upgraded to VDSL through orcon and they have setup and i am getting speeds such as 40mb download and 10mb upload. My concern is this new modem that it came with. NETCOMM NF4V. i have always had option for portforwarding on my older modem but it does not seem to have it on this modem.. i portforward ports for xbox as i truly am a gaming freak.

my question to you or whoever is reading this.
- what is the best option in terms of setting for this modem to achieve best speeds or get the most out of the modem.
- is there any way i can portforward on this modem.

Thank you in advance and look forward to someone's reply.

looks like new toys for the fritz are coming...

SilverwolfNZ:
You may be interested to know there's a new setting under Line Settings.

"DSL version Use previous DSL version In case no synchronization is possible with the current FRITZ!OS, here you can deploy the DSL version of the previous FRITZ!OS. Once the other DSL version is enabled, the FRITZ!Box will be restarted."
