its very likely getting your a better quallity line after that cable is ran yes.

as your modem has correctly said, at the expense of stability. it is possible, you tweaked too much and DLM pulled back.

Thanks hio77.

I have set it all back to "off" for the purposes of the Engineer testing and sorting everything out and will let it settle for a while - hopefully if the line is now operating to it's fullest potential after the re-cable, I won't need to play with it any more anyway!

assuming DLM is reset after he does his work, you should let your line be natural until it settles.

Well the work is done and the download speeds are back in the late 20's with all settings at "natural" which is the worst they have ever been!

Still, I have not been home yet and all information being relayed to me by my wife. Will probably reset the device and re-run the modem setup when I get back and see how it goes.

Your "Signal-to-noise ratio [margin]" value is too low. It should be around 12db by default. You could try rebooting the Fritz or you could just leave it as it'll probably sort it out after then reconnection.

Nope, that was just the defaults set from Snap sending the router (all set to maximum performance under Line Settings). It dropped down to 9000 errors in 15 minutes without me doing anything.

So - all work done, connection seems to be stable again.

Stats:

Currently I have Bitswap on, SRA turned off and no SNR tweaking.

Slingshot confirmed that the DLM/port has been reset so I presume I just sit tight withouth messing with it for a while and hope I see speeds start to climb again?

Any comments/thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

at 2dB attenuation, i would just give your line a good month to settle. your in 17a territory there.

pretty sure that modem can do it, so got a spectrum?

Does it tell you what the latency and INP are set to? Also do you know what the timeframe of the CRC numbers is (hourly or for the duration of the connection)?

Does that stability adjustment setting reduce the SNRM target or increase it (or can you choose either)?

I'd be interested to know if SRA works.

SRA isnt enabled on chorus gear regardless.

Spectrum as follows:

Some quick research suggests that it won't will give up that info on INP and latency... not sure on the CRC, will have to check.

Allows you to select a range from 5db to 30db with some Engrish hover-text about setting it nearer "max" to improve speed at the expense of stability and the ability to defend against line noise...

SRA doesn't seem to make any tangible difference on or off - not sure how I would test.

Cheers chaps.
