We just got the "Your Order is Ready" email πŸ˜€

Hopefully many others in NZ have too.  We are in the South Island, slightly north of Wellington.

Wow, that's awesome - sounds like quite a jump up in service.  I hope the North Island gets switched on soon too!

Will be interesting to see if traffic still being routed via Australia - hope not.

Oh, could be interesting to add your latitude to this Reddit page too - https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/ml2i9q/starlink_availability_current_and_new_beta_test/

Oooh exciting, when did you preorder? I'm not much lower in terms of latitude, so will be interesting to see how quickly it rolls out.  starlink.sx has our coverage prediction at almost 100%.

Just to follow up, did some random order tests.

Seems like a large share of the South Island is open to full orders! Very exciting!!

We pre-ordered on 19 Feb I think.   I've put a few addresses in for the top of the south, and full orders are available.

All traffic is still being routed via Aussie. I was a bit discouraged by this initially as I work from home a lot with VPNs to local sites but in reality haven't noticed it much. I still would think it great if they put in a POP in Auckland but the NZ market is likely only a rounding error to them in terms of income and we are likely very lucky that we were one of the initial countries to have it rolled out.

I tried putting a test order in, and seems you can order 'now' in Wellington itself :)  So pretty much everywhere south of 41.2° stands a chance of getting active cells.

r/Starlink - New Zealand - Jump up in latitude to Wellington (41.2°) from Christchurch (43.3°)

Yay! I preordered on the day I started this thread and have received the shipping email overnight. South Island Mackenzie District.

Like many people in NZ this weekend, I’ll be cutting down a couple of trees for Starlink.

Just a warning, on my android the obstruction checker has the “cone” pointing north.  But on an iphone its south.   I’ll be cutting the trees to the south (there are no trees to the north) so I’ve got all bases covered (and a good supply of firewood) .  Anyway don't trust the obstruction checker on the Starlink app.

Hah I watched that a day or so ago. We must get suggested the same stuff based on watching launches and so forth :)

Although it's a stealth ad for skillshare.

Starlink is due to reach its final position any day now - perhaps 8th August. (at least for this orbital shell for now).

Elon currently has SpaceX working like mad to finish the Super Heavy Booster 4 and Starship 20, stacking together to make Super Heavy Starship 4/20 - ETA somewhere between 5th and 15th August on rumours I've seen.

My guess is Elon is preparing to do a big joint-announcement of Starlink being 'live' at the same time Starship 4/20 is fully stacked.

Indeed!  I've been following Boca Chica since its early days, and NSF do a great job. But I think 29 Raptors installed in one day surprised everyone - not least where they all appeared from :)

Elon must be itching to get Starship launching Starlinks ASAP.  There are 2 orbits still to fill in the current shell (click 'Show Orbital Chart' on https://starlink.sx/) .  Also Starship's possible test trajectory is not so far off a Starlink launch - just needs to go a bit further south over NZ perhaps :)  https://twitter.com/planet4589/status/1411781300063813648
