Jase2985: Chorus spent about 6 hours here today trying to find and fix the problem which seems to be a damaged underground cable that had some water ingress
Stats are looking a little better :D
Bearers generic info DS US
Payload rate [Kbps]: 66678 10351
Attenuation [dB]: 1.7 4.9
Margins [dB]: 12.7 31.3
Output power [dBm]: 10.6 -5.2
Number of bearers: 1
Bearer 0 DS US
INP [DMT symbols]: 0.00 0.00
Delay [ms]: 0.00 0.00
Depth []: 1 0.00
Currently a few errors on the line but i think what was from when they were reconnecting everything/fiddling in the cabinet nothing at all for the last 15 minutes.
Previously attenuation was 6.3 down and 10.6 up when i was on 17a and 62mbps

Jase2985: May not be permanent as coming back from getting dinner there is a temp cable running from the cabinet to the junction box outside my house. which im guessing is carrying the signals at the moment. + my brother-in-law over the road (fed from the same junction box/cable) doesnt have phone service still.

Jase2985: hopefully they fix the other one and its just as good. looks like they will be back tomorrow. Now im wondering how much of my lawn they plan on digging up to find the issue

Jase2985: Going off all the work/issues that i had with my line recently should i be asking telecom to have my line reset? so it will start the 10 day training period again?
or just wait and see what happens?

bigbennyc: G'day Everyone
Last Tuesday I switched from ADSL2+ with Flip to VDSL with Slingshot. ADSL speeds were around 13mbps and unfortunately the switch to VDSL appears to have made no difference to my d/load speeds. Getting about 12-14mbps down, of course upload is vastly better coming in at about 7.5mbps. Checked my VDSL modem stats and it's showing attenuation of 15dB. Being within the first 10 days of connection to VDSL I'm obviously still going through DLM but I'm guessing that I'm not really going to see any vast improvements in download speeds? Speedguide.net suggests that with 15dB attenuation I should get 34mbps down. Is that likely or would I be better off just going back to ADSL?
