CrazyM:

Has anyone tried using a Vodafone Suresignal over Starlink yet? Is there any reason to assume it wouldn't work?

I received my Starlink kit here in Nelson this morning and have it up and running.  It looks like the other posts are correct and Suresignal does not work over Starlink :(

Does anyone know if there is any way to keep my Suresignal working over Starlink?  VPN? Port Forwarding?  It's all a bit over my head but I'm hoping someone can give some input?

Sure signal requires a whitelist IP node. Chances are it's missing, or on purpose

There was a VF staff member helpful with that when 2d was taking over mobile ranges for fibre

I expect the answer now may be, do a carrier update and hope your model enables VoWifi soon

So the ISP needs to be whitelisted by Vodafone to allow it to work?

Yes WIFI calling would be great but seems to have been in the works forever.  Maybe more imminent now from some of the posts I've read?

Not an expert, so please correct this if I'm wrong.

You also face the issue of Starlink being behind CGNAT, which means that it is unlikely to be seen by the Vodafone network.  You would have to consider routing the traffic through WireGuard or the like.

Nope, it's fine - no direct inbound needed as it establishes out first :) 2Degrees is now CG-NAT (hence my issues when they moved everyone onto the CG-NAT mobile pools) and it works fine.

But there are explicit IP ranges VF need to whitelist to allow it. However it also needs to hit an NTP server and syncronise within a certain latency to flick itself on. That might cause a hiccup once you get past the IP ranges.

They probably need to be advised of 103.152.126.0/24 - or may brush you off totally as it's not a cabled service.

However if you get one of their other allocated ranges, they may need to add em all.

Probably something along those lines. Otherwise you could take a sure signal o/seas to avoid roaming.

I think I found that user (nzbsgfan) and have sent him a PM so will see if he can help.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Someone in this thread suggested that Public IP range designated for New Zealand at Sydney PoC is 103.152.126.0/24.

However, it does not stand checking at APNIC (Regional Internet Registry administering IP addresses for the Asia Pacific). It seems the following 2 subnets are designated to New Zealand instead.

103.152.126.96/27

103.152.127.96/27

Does anybody from existing Starlink users in NZ see Public IP assigned to him which is outside of these 2 ranges?

That'd be on me. Was regurgitating the one found on reddit by someone else

So I went for the ASN and listed them all incase it meant more to people that needed it.

@BenT

Did you manage to get your VF SureSignal to work in the end?   Our neighbour is about to install Dishy but they have a SureSignal.  (Apparently their SureSignal is currently working on Farmside geo sat but there is a pretty bad voice delay.)

No. I still have it running through my old wireless link alongside Starlink.  Word from Vodafone was that Suresignal is end of life so they are not interested in whitelisting IP addresses and they were also concerned that the IP range for NZ might also be used for AU (unlikely?) so they could not whitelist it in-case someone took a Suresignal to Australia and operated it, which would be illegal.

I haven't yet looked into whether it is possible to run the Suresignal through a VPN to an NZ server.

I'm hoping WIFI calling will be available soon on Vodafone given it seems they are about to retire Suresignal.  Otherwise I will probably just switch our phones to 2degrees to use their WIFI calling.

There is a recent comment in the Vodafone Sure Signal thread that someone received a Carrier Bundle update on their iPhone which made the Wifi Calling Settings appear. I couldn't replicate this myself so can only assume they have a beta ver, maybe something coming with iOS 15 next month?

Unrelated to Starlink

I'm surprised Vodafone Sure Signal is still a thing. It was recently ended in the UK
