I got another ddDLM change this morning
Interleave Depth now over 800, up from 100 (week earlier was over 700 then dropped)
This dropped my actual DS connection from 50Mbps to 40Mbps

I'm not far from moving Modem close to road side pillar.
Solar panel 270w, Solar controller, Battery 100ah, cables and box to put it all in sorted
Antenna by house setup, POE cable running from house to Ubiquiti Powerbeam on a 4m pole (I'll bury the cable later)
Tomorrow 2x bags of easicrete to setup pole at road, antenna all setup ready to go
Ordered the steel Box section to make up frame for solar panel, got some welding to do.
Most awkward part will be making up POE CAT6 cable from DV130 modem to Antenna, I have to along the way inject 24v from 12 to 24v converter
Cat6 cable to RJ11 plug already made
Outdoor gel filled CAT6 cable is a pain the $%#^ to get RJ45 plugs onto
Just need to finalise where the antenna goes, need to do some signal strength testing before I dig the hole.

Were you just going to run the Draytek power straight off the solar controller? It wouldn't be silly having some form of voltage regulation - there are tons of cheap bits and bobs of eBay that would work fine.

A lot of the older Ubiquiti gear will run down to 12v, I'm not sure on the Powerbeam specifically though. It is much better to run them on the recommended voltage though.

https://www.gowifi.co.nz/power/tp-dcdc-1224.html

One of those would be good for the Powerbeam - keeps it all safe.

Failing that, if you already have a voltage converter, one of these

https://www.gowifi.co.nz/power/poe-inj-led-s.html

and these

https://www.gowifi.co.nz/cabling-coax-accessories/p-35.html

would be easy.

I've got a cheaper version of the 12 to 24v converter, runs up to 3a (only need about 0.25a), tested on battery at 13.2v it outputs 24.25v
not sure how far antenna will be away from Power so best get 24v so can at least go some distance if needed

Modem at this point directly off 12v, that Injector above is only 10/100Mbps need Gigabit injector or make my own, Radios run up to 650Mbps
I've butchered an old AC Adapter to get the plug and cable that fits the DV130 to the Solar Controller output

Quite excited to see how all this goes

Projects like this are great fun. Would be keen to see some pics when it's done haha. Tycon do make a gigabit model of that same injector, but why would you need gigabit for that end? Unless you are literally right next to the cabinet, there won't be any bottleneck on the internet speeds with the 100 meg LAN connection.

Or that should work with your current converter I think.

Just checked and all those Mikrotik passive injectors seem to be pins 4,5 + and 7,8 return so that is the same as Ubiquiti passive PoE.

That Gigbit POE looks like something I could use and more easily wire up.
Becoming GoWifi's best customer of late
I prefer to have Gigabit everywhere then no bottle necks, should NBN, 30a or other enhancements come along
I doubt I'll ever see Fibre coming past front gate.

I've got 2 Litebeam AC Gen2's to do the PtP, one is already on a pole about 50m from house with CAT6 cable (POE)
Other I'll sort out a test to see where best to place the antenna at road end, got an awkward hill to go around.

Also good to have feedback to do things better.

As for ddDLM hopefully removing the 400m of CAT3 cable to house will alleviate my bouncing Interleave Depth

Another ddDLM change this morning, coming thick and fast now

Upstream SNR profile changed to 5db, giving me a 1.5Mbps boost
Downstream Interleave Depth has halved to 400, still high but giving better actual connection speed

I've seen a few lines starting to make moves on interleavings.

Had an interesting case yesterday 17A line on Interleaved VDSL ddDLM profile, with 0ms (so ddDLM had made the choice to move to 0ms)

My two lines have started to become more stable again, I've been sick with incredible migranes lately so don't even have computer running at home.

Watching my lines from afar though.

ADSL line has moved back to 9db/9db (down from  12/12 - is interleaving off line)

VDSL line has moved to 9db/6dB 0INP (down from 12/12 2INP)

For Latency to drop, INP first has to reduce (this is due to how INP works, if i can remember tonight and my head is not throbbing i'll find the screenshot showing this)

Unfortunately i have not built into my ELK stack to monitor Interleaving Depth for interesting factors to show..

Thanks hio77, really good info.

My INP is at 0 already and hopefully the next profile shift will get rid of this pesky ping.

Something weird has just happened to my line, just got home at 4:30 and logged into our modem to see if anything had changed which it has, 30mins ago our connection was reset by the cabinet at 4pm in the middle of the day which is strange and have noticed our speed had dropped to 39 from 63 downstream and 10 from 11 upstream the attainable rate has also dropped to 1mb of these figures here are the stats
SNR margin downstream 4.7. Upstream 5.5
Interleave depth downstream 169. Upstream 40
Delay Downstream 8. Upstream 1
INP downstream 1. Upstream 0
Stats wise it was the same as before the connection reset except the downstream SNR was 1db higher and to have it reset in the midle of the day is even weirder. Anyone have any explanation?

It went off for me for a brief period. Stayed that way for around 48 hours, then reverted to 8ms on the download.

sounds almost like a physical change of line.

so your saying that the line from my house the cabinet has been altered or damaged?

Yes, either rained and got into the cable, neighbor upgraded to vdsl too so more crosstalk, someones rummaged around in a join and its now not as good as before - often fault finding someone elses connection on the derelect copper will cause others to suddenly show faults.

I'm saying based off the fact that you report no change in SNR however a large change in downstream (and upstream rates indicating this was not 17a -> 8b) it is possible this is a line fault.

Possible being the key word, ddDLM does weird things..

I'm still rather frustrated by the fact that chorus have not pushed out more clear details to RSP's regarding how agents should handle ddDLM cases since it is everywhere now
