From the ETP to a wall socket, though the Fritz has an RJ45 on the input so wall socket to modem is also cat6. In my case it's actually ETP->cat6->19" patch panel->patch cable->19" patch panel->cat6->RJ45 cat6 wall socket->cat6->modem. I'm very close to the cabinet though (100m), for a more marginal connection it might be worth trying to avoid so many connectors.

Your Fritz must be different than mine, I don't have an RJ45 for the SDL line in to the modem, only a smaller analog style phone plug socket ... (my FritzBox is a 7490) ..

Certainly looks like a RJ45 there, would seem strange for them to drop the better standard!

Are you sure? Mine's also a 7490 and it's definitely got an RJ45 (as does my old 7340).

Much the same conclusion myself, even went as far as to measure the port sizing from the photo against the rj45s and rj12 ports there.

Ok, that is what came with the modem ...

But that is good if it is an RJ45 socket, makes life easier .... does anyone have the correct pins to wire the two lines to on the RJ45 connector?

Two inner ports are DSL (blue pair/4&5)

The PSTN line is the next two pins (Orange/green pairs depending on A/B - 3&6)

The PSTN is buggy though in my experience, it does not handle CID properly leading to inconsistent responses.

Just got VDSL connected in my new place, connection / stats seem pretty good. Interesting that the SNR is 0, would that influence a speed increase once DLM does its thing or does that solely look at attenuation?

snr 0 looks to be a mistake, although given the upstream rate and the distance it does seem actually plausible. Expect it to resync lower.

Yup you were right on the SNR, has corrected itself to 9

Stats look a bit better though, upstream has increased which i am happy about

Hi All,

An Update: I tidied up my phone line so that there was the minimal cable possible, and removed all the extensions.

Now I have 24Mb down and 1Mb up ..... still disappointed in the up link speed, but happy with the download speed ..
