I transferred to VDSL from ADSL but somehow my Attenuation has gone up from (7,1 to 11,20).I was previously connected to a Broadcom DSLAM and not an Ikanos one.Did I get ported to a different DSLAM?

unless you were on UCLL gear then chances are you are on the same cabinet. Maybe on a different card in the cabinet though.

Your attenuation does go up with VDSL as its measured at a different frequency

what was your speed on ADSL? and do you have a master filter installed?

Downstream attenuation, within ballpark of what i would expect.

Reasonable line, Master filter installed? it does look like it could be cleaned up a little.

Is possible you moved linecards if the one you were physically one was not capable of providing VDSL.

Not sure about the master filter as I'm renting this place. But I do get DSL on all phone jacks in the house so I'm thinking there is none.

Speed on ADSL was around 19 Mbps and straight line distance to the cabinet is nearly 300m.

if you get DSL on all jacks you dont have a master filter. It may make a small difference but given your speeds i wouldnt bother.

i would disagree, there is a fair amount that can be cleaned up on that line.

remember 8b does not cap out at 50mbit anymore, also for the line the upstream particularly is a little ill.

Looks like there is quite some variation on different phone jacks.Any chances of it getting better in the coming weeks?

Clear signs of an unclean line, as i stated before.

going around trying each jackpoint will lead DLM to get upset and make things worse not better.

A new filter costs like $20 and takes less then 30 mins to install.

Well worth the time and small cost for improved DSL. and given it's so cheap you'll do every renter after you a favour..

Unless fiber is only a few months away....

When i was out renting, i made it a condition of signing my lease that a filter could be installed. they gave it the all ok to go ahead, simply required it was done by Chorus themselves (remember the ordeal that was in this thread? haha)

IMO its well worth the cost, but anyway..

I think the house will also need a straight run from the splitter to the modem.Fibre will be installed next month and 50 Mbps down will do for now.

Connected the modem to an ADSL Filter and the rate increased from 47 Mbps to 55 Mbps and latency dropped by 1 ms.Does the resistance on the Phone line help in eliminating noise from the line ?
