doubt we will see a mass of 17a line drop to 8b, i expect to see faster speeds and more stable connections however.

All i can put together, chorus are actually putting diagnostics into the system now rather than just, errors, latency out the ass!

unfortunately chorus being chorus, they have announced this BEFORE the documentation for it all is put together.

I have been in contact with my SDM, however have been informed it wont be till the end of the week before any documentation is live on these changes - At that point if its public viewable i'll gladly stick it up here.

For anyone interested in chorus's day by day informers, sp.chorus.co.nz is now open for anyone to sign up to.

Oooh, interesting.. Wonder what more I can get out of my line!
After the last bandplan change (and more of the neighborhood going fibre/wireless) my lines connected at 70/11 on 8b 9db snr with 15db of attenuation.

Always hoped I'd jump to 17a but never seen it happen.

So i was going to do the rewiring today , but i opened the ETP and was a bit confused , since i dont have one of those tone testers / to isolate the cables , im too scared to touch anything at the moment until i can make sense of it all . was wondering if someone can help me understand it . basically i want to run a cat6 cable from the etp into a single RJ45 wall outlet

the single cable that runs into the PVC pipe goes into the house , and are there actually two lead lines entering the ETP ? i was expecting there to be a single cable with 4 wires ?

No I don't have a splitter.
Various old jack point's around the house, not active. The VDSL jack is a small DSL specific type tacked on to an older unused jack with external wires connecting it. So potentially interferance from the other points, or potentially a whole new circuit/pair from the demarc if the installer was cool. The point is labeled vdsl.

Moved in a year ago and hadn't given it any attention before now, it just worked.

I'm in Te Atatu South, AKL. I guess I'm close to the Cabinet?

I'm just surprised VDSL could be that high download, the ISPs advertise like 40-70 and had that stuck in my head.

Ping seems decent at 7ms too?

Now, you'll probably hate me for this... but the reason I'm looking at it now: I was getting a before and after comparison for my Fibre Upgrade! ><
I'm sticking with 100/20 initially until I figure out my budget vs need for speeed. So my upload is actually getting worse! And download is less than 10% improvement.

Yes, there are two brands of cards used in the cabinets. The older cards are Ikanos and can do 70/30 max. The newer cards are Broadcom and can do 100/50 max.

You're pretty close to the cabinet based on your speeds.

Your ISP is playing it safe and advertising a conservative speed so as not to give people unrealistic expectations. The average VDSL speed on the Chorus network is only 50Mbps.

You should get better reliability on fibre, and lower pings (around 1-2ms).

Yeah ping is 3 or 4ms on Fibre; 104 down, 20 up. (Tested on wifi/mobile speedtest... but so was the vdsl test)

Your upload looks to be on the lowside for your profile.

Te atatu, definitely none of the trials which was my concern.

If fibre is there, i'd make the move tbh. - That's coming from someone who loves vdsl....

@seretonin disconnect each lead-in one by one until your internet dies. Then you should have correct one.
