just had a bit of decrease in speed , unsure why this is , ive checked all my connections and they look okay
heres my stats , and you can see my eariler post on the previous page of the better sync rates i was getting

EDIT: Oops, quoted wrong post!
Jase2985:
@samF doubt you will see more as you are likely on a ikanos line card and you are maxing that out. they do report they can obtain higher speeds but they are stuck at 70/30.
the newer boardcom cards can do 100/50
Of course you are right, I forgot about that limit! Interestingly I had another resync yesterday and now the attainable speed is even better! Errors are static now which is good, so just waiting for that interleaving to drop...
Now who do I have to bribe / blackmail / kill to get my cabinet upgrade to better line cards!? :D
Your actual is faster than should be possible on that linecard...
interesting...
the only way that it would be possible is if there are both broadcom and ikanos linecards in your cabinet and even then it is extremely rare that you would get a selection of the two.

You mean by 15kbits? Could just be a rounding / reporting error.

Yeah i do, very likely is an error makes my mind wonder though...

Heh, true, it is interesting. Looks pretty solidly stuck at 70/30 though so surely an ikanos.
Slightly frustrating to be 'limited' to 70% of my potential line speed however! Know of any programs going on to upgrade older line cards to newer Broadcom ones?

Unlikely to ever happen, would be far too expensive and better spent replacing with fibre.

Even better! Fibre scheduled for June 2018 :(
You're probably right tho, they won't be upgrading VDSL with fibre only a year away.

If thats the chorus map then thats just what it says for things that are scheduled soon. Near here is also june 18, as am I, but some streets are getting digging now so my fingers are crossed that the signs go up in my street real soon now.

but your not limited though, you are getting 100% of whats available on the ikanos line card. your getting 70% of what others may be getting on the new and i guessing replacements for the ikanos ones.
With all the people moving to fibre i would imagine they re-appropriate those unused VDSL line cards to areas that dont have VDSL. not to areas that already have it and are getting fibre

Sure, but I'm not getting 100% of what my line is capable of :)

Ha! - I'd just like to know why my profile seems to be stuck on 8B - My stats look more than fine for 17A but it just won't pop.
ddDLM appears to be on holiday after visiting 8 days ago to lower the US SNR from 12dB down to 6dB....
System Uptime:241:17:40
Seen a big leap in speed after latest Fritz firmware on my VDSL line. Was getting 12-14Mbs down and 3-4Mbs up for the last year or so. Am now consistently getting 20Mbs down, and 5-6Mbs up. Went from Fritz firmware version 6.53 to 6.83 on a Fritzbox 7390. I perceive the line has been more stable too, although that is always weather related on this line (wind and rain causes re-syncs), so it will take longer to be sure on that!
Change after firmware update was immediate in the speed gain (synced higher after firmware reboot) and I'm aware of no other changes. (Of course, it could be a fluke related to an unknown network change, and is unrelated to my firmware update.... but seems unlikely given timing!)
I'm on Ikanos 2.1 linecard (although annoyingly this Fritz firmware 6.83 gives less info on the linecard than the previous 6.53 version did).
I'm only about 150m from Cabinet, but the lines are in terrible condition up here. Chorus tech said if he got his way, he wouldn't allow our street to have VDSL as the lines are too poor quality (he'd roll us alll back to ADSL if he could!).... which makes it all the more frustrating that Fibre isn't coming until July 2019!

Hmmmm. 150m from cabinet. That is is a very short distance and you should be getting 60 - 70 MBps Sync at least with a decent line. You did say the line is bad so that is the constraint. I guess no one want to invest in copper any more given that fibre is coming. Your modem stats is interesting though. Line attenuation of 11db would corroborate with your short distance to the cabinet and yet it would not sync higher than 20 Mbps. Must be due to interference, noise ..etc.
Can you get wireless broandband as that is a viable alternative if you can live with a data cap.
