Thats interesting.  Guess it updated immediately or it was straight off the production line.  Our one took a few days to update.

Our dishy originally had firmware that was about 3 months old.  Leading me to speculate that SpaceX might possibly have a 3 month stockpile of Dishys.

It did have 10 minutes of downtime after it found a satellite, maybe it updated then?  Also, mine's a black version, and has an SSID of Starlink-22XXX , maybe I'm reading too much into it, but wouldn't they be sequential SSID's? Meaning I have an earlier production version?

We got a black model delivered yesterday

It came with firmware dated last year

It took a few hours to randomly get an update for both the dish and router

Looking promising thus far, just need to work on domestic ping!  But it's great for things in Australia!

Hit 262Mbps on my first test of the day, but it hovers around this mark:

Speedtest

Very good ping to Australia.  I get 56ms to TasmaNet Sydney over VDSL from Bay of Islands.

Sadly I've cancelled (or at least medium-term paused) my Starlink order as I'm renting, not sure how long we'll be here, and I realised the trees around here are more of an obstruction than I thought.

Two meter height increase now no obstructions, was getting great service already but wanted to see what a bit more height would do.

Went from some obstructions to "all good".

So, how have you mounted your Starlink to the roof? What do you use on longrun etc? Just looking at all that now and the Starlink mount options are pretty pricey and made for US roofs and not ours really.

Look at posts from 21 Aug for NZ roof mount options.  I used my existing Sky Dish mount.   Removed the sky dish and installed Dishy on the mount.

I used;

1. like Yank1w1 noted above, old Sky equipment, Satellite Mount Base, much the same if not identical to this,
https://www.matchmaster.co.nz/satellite-equipment/13mm-clevisbr1/

2. Pole (the piece I used looks like an old aluminum spinnaker pole. Its inside diameter, 43mm, was to large so had to use insert).

3. Steel Bushings, (one about 5cm) inserted into base of pole to stop it deforming when bolted to Satellite Mount Base. The other inserted in the top of pole to reduce the diameter so the Starlink dish pole (about 36.4mm diameter) can drop in.

4. Some stays for the mast and some silicone to seal the holes in the roof.

My tracking says exactly the same. Hopefully it’s just a date error in the scanner?

Mine was lucky to get through, but my pole adapter has been held up by US customs for some "Regulatory Inspection".  Hope it gets your way soon!

Just saw this, although beware, I can't see it reported anywhere else: apparently the price of Dishy is expected to halve before the end of the year. I guess it was always going to happen, I just didn't expect them to announce this so soon. Tempting to hold off a little longer now and save a few hundy, if this report proves to be legit:

Interesting read.

From a business perspective, if they have 600k pre-orders at $499 USD, why would they lower the price?

Also as a commenter points out on the article, it sounds like the SpaceX president was actually referring to the production cost, rather than the end consumer cost (PC Mag misinterpreted).
