We're working towards having existing FTTP sub-divisions able to connect to UFB services later this year.

There can be a big difference between "working towards something later this year" and "having it done by the end of the year".

Unfortunately you can't throw around magic pixie dust and have a new fibre network rolled out everywhere instantly over night.

The UFB rollout was never meant to be an onvernight project. It has always been a 10 year project with the bulk of residential areas being covers in years 6-10.

WHAT!? But I want it now!!!!!

lol but seriously.. They are working crazy hard just for this first year roll out and are doing a great job. I was up at Palmy exchange this morning and the fiber splicing guy was working away. He had been bought over from Brisbane to do this work! There isn't enough man power in NZ to get this done at the moment. Apparently a whole bunch of Chinese guys are being bought over too.

Find that a little hard to believe they are under resourced in AU for fibre design and jointing and they pay better! Just look at seek!

but yea alot of staff coming from the Philippines and South Aflicka ... low on civil contractors for thrusting etc too.
